The Otipemisiwak Metis Government is beginning a deeply meaningful archival project to gathering and honour the stories of Metis Residential School Survivors. Through this work we hope to preserve and share the history our Otipemisiwak Métis Citizens endured in Canada’s residential school system. This is a history that has deeply impacted our citizens, and too often are left out of broader conversations or overlooked.
This Project seeks to create a space for Metis stories to be heard, remembered and respected.
Our people attended these institutions. Our families lived with harms and lasting traumas that residential schools inflicted through generations. The voices, memories, and lived experiences deserve to be heard, preserved, and treated with care and respect.
This project is guided by the stories of Survivors and the intergenerational impacts carried within families. If you feel comfortable, we warmly welcome you to fill out this form so our team can connect with you and continue the conversation about how you wish to be involved in this important work of remembrance and truth-telling.
